Active Engagement- The last few days of school are often the hardest. Students are struggling with separation and staff are trying to get things packed up. We need to keep kids actively engaged in learning. This diminishes behavior challenges. When students have " busy" work they tend to find alternatives that are not positive. Just like at the start of the year be explicit in your expectations. When you want students to line up make sure you have established a clear expectation in a positive manner and allowed sufficient time to line up. Engaging students in learning and sharing positive expectations before a request will result in positive behaviors.
Reading Day - Thank you to Deb & Karin for creating our reading day activities. Please refer to their email for specifics. It is exciting to know that our students will go home with a book for the summer.
Goodbyes - On Wednesday there will be many goodbyes. Goodbye signifies the end of something and the beginning of something else. Our sixth graders will be moving on to junior high. They are prepared for this next stage of their education due to ALL of your hard work. The high level of collaboration, problem solving, and support for each other is what has enabled our students to succeed. It has been my honor and privilege to work along side you to help students. The only way I will survive Wednesday is by not getting emotional. I am sure a few tears will sneak out but I will do my best to control them. Please know that inside I am crying with each goodbye hug. Thank you for supporting me on my journey to grow as a better leader. I will take a part of each of you with me to Qatar.
